Granada New Homes - Our Location:
THE CITY OF GRANADA AND ITS SURROUNDINGS:It includes the capital and thirty villages on its outskirts, like La Zubia,Alhendin and even The Lecrin Valley. East of Granada lies Guadix famous for its cave dwellers, many people live in these caves and when you visit they welcome you in to see what a remarkable job they have done by carving out such fantastic homes.
By contrast to the south of Granada is The Lecrin Valley, this area is verdant and lush, it grows oranges, lemons, vegetables, olives etc. Just along from the Lecrin Valley is The Alpujarras, this is a mountain range that lies below the Sierra Nevada Mountains and has a variety of villages set amongst fantastic scenery, well worth a visit are Lanjarron, Orgiva and up into the higher parts of the Alpujarras where they meet the Sierra Nevada. Alpine type villages like Bubion,Trevelez and Capileira, famous for their hams, cheeses and rugs.
Granada City has many monuments to visit, the most famous must be The Alhambra Palace, the first vestiges of the palace go back to the 9th century 100yrs. after the Muslims arrived. The grandest buildings belong to The Nazari period(12th cent.) and Carlos V reign (16th cent.) The Alhambra was built to reach perfection and to show domination and power. The Alhambra rises on top of the red hill as a symbal of greatness of the rulers who lived there. It has a fantastic backdrop of the snow capped Sierra Nevada.
There are plenty of monuments and areas to visit in the city like the Cathederal, the Monasterio de la Cartuja and Sacromonte. But a must is the area of Albaycin; there are many entrances from the city into the Albaycin, this is an old Muslim area that retains its Arabic charms, there are many shops at the entrances of The Albaycin, this resembles The Casbah, you can buy rugs, lamps, shoes etc. and have a mint tea and a Shish Kebab on your way through the windy lanes to the top of the Albaycin where you can get a great view of the Alhambra Palace. Whilst up there explore the various Plazas where you can see Flamenco music and dancing in some of the bars and restaurants.
Granada also has facilities that befits a modern city, with its shops, hotels, conference centres, cinemas and sporting facilities.
The Costa Tropical coast is just over 35 minutes away where the sun (nearly) always shines. This coast is un-commercialised and retains its charm as the towns and villages by the sea are working towns and villages, plying there trades like fishing and farming.
Granada Province is the envy of other Provinces in Spain, why, well we get free tapas everytime we buy a drink in a bar. Yes free, even if you only buy a beer, you may get a small paella, a pork stew, calamares, slices of ham etc. as a matter of fact in most places its a suprise what you may get and with each round of drinks the next tapas is different; but they won't mind you staying to see if you can outdrink the variety of tapas.
There is so much to see here in Granada, too much to mention and the area has a feel of being laid back, no need to hurry, there is always tommorow.
